Basketball Game Preview: Nebraska City Pioneers vs. Fort Calhoun Pioneers

The Nebraska City Pioneers will square off against the Fort Calhoun Pioneers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

On Saturday, Nebraska City came up short against Gross Catholic and fell 47-37. The Pioneers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Fort Calhoun was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were dealt a 69-26 loss at the hands of Lincoln Christian. The contest marked the Pioneers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Maelie Nelson was Fort Calhoun's leading scorer, having posted eight points. Ansley Elofson took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with four assists.

Fort Calhoun's defeat dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Nebraska City, their loss dropped their record down to 9-11.

Nebraska City was dealt a bruising 55-19 defeat at the hands of Fort Calhoun when the teams last played back in February of 2024. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Nebraska City was down 42-9.
