Basketball Recap: Guthrie Takes a Loss

Guthrie suffered their biggest defeat since December 27, 2024 on Friday. They came up short against the Valley Patriots, falling 53-32. The Jaguars have struggled against the Patriots recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Valley found their leader in freshman Corbin Taylor, who went 11 for 12 on his way to 25 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. The matchup was Taylor's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Kanyon Taylor was another key player, putting up nine points along with six boards and five blocks.

Guthrie's loss dropped their record down to 14-12. As for Valley, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 23-2.

Guthrie has already played their next game (against Patton Springs), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Valley is taking a road trip to challenge Paducah at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.7 points per game this season.
