Football Recap: Bessemer Academy Takes a Loss

Bessemer Academy had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-9 to make it seven. They were beaten by South Choctaw Academy 62-14. Bessemer Academy lost against South Choctaw Academy in their previous head to head back in August of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 48-44 score last time.

As for South Choctaw Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-4. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by 21 points or more this season.

Gage Adams was his usual excellent self, rushing for 87 yards and one score on only 11 carries. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up a sack and making three total tackles.

Bessemer Academy and South Choctaw Academy are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Rebels will challenge Southern Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for South Choctaw Academy, they will face off against Crenshaw Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rebels will be up against the Cougars' rather soft defense (which has allowed 26 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
