Softball Recap: South Pittsburg Victorious

South Pittsburg hadn't done well against North Jackson recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Pirates walked away with a 4-0 win over the Chiefs. For the Pirates, this counts as revenge for the 11-3 victory the Chiefs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Not much got past Kaylee Kilgore, who gave up just five hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep North Jackson off the board. Kilgore has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, South Pittsburg's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Khloe Mount, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Kynleigh Rice was another, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

The victory got South Pittsburg back to even at 6-6. As for North Jackson, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-13.
