The Pathfinder RVT Pioneers will head out on the road to challenge the Palmer Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Pathfinder RVT is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.2 runs per game this season.
Pathfinder RVT had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Gateway Regional on Monday. The Pioneers put the hurt on the Gators with a sharp 20-9 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Pioneers considering their two-run performance the matchup before.
Zander Auffrey made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched four innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Pathfinder RVT let Edward Szostek and Brayden Mega run wild. Szostek got on base in three of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI, while Mega went 2-for-4 with five stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Mega is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Emerson Boronski, who went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Palmer faced off against Ludlow on Friday. The Panthers took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions.
Like Pathfinder RVT, Palmer also got a great game from a two-way player: Sebastian Mayberry. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off six hits. Mayberry was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base.
In other batting news, Guillermo Rodriguez was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That double was his first of the season.
Pathfinder RVT's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Palmer, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season.
Palmer's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Pathfinder RVT has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .476. It's a different story for Palmer, though, as they've only averaged .352. Will they be able to contain Pathfinder RVT's hitters?
Pathfinder RVT came up short against Palmer when the teams last played back in May of 2024, falling 6-1. Can the Pioneers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
