Basketball Recap: New Prairie Comes Up Short

New Prairie was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 53-47 heartbreaker at the hands of the Bremen Lions. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cougars of the 43-38 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why New Prairie lost, don't look at Brody Wiginton. Despite the final result, he posted 13 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaydon Clemons, who scored eight points and five boards.

Chase Devine continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Bremen, going 12-for-20 en route to 31 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. The match was Devine's tenth in a row with at least 21 points. Another player making a difference was Silas Laidig, who had 12 points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

New Prairie's loss dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Bremen, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

New Prairie wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 60-40 defeat against South Bend Adams on the 14th. As for Bremen, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 54-37 victory against Knox on the 14th.
