Baseball Recap: Marmion Comes Up Short

Marmion dropped their record down to 20-12-1 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Aurora Christian Eagles by a score of 6-5. If the Cadets were looking for revenge after losing 13-12 to the Eagles when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Marmion got a good showing from Eddie Morvice, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Morvice has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two hits in 13 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ethan Flores made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one triple and two RBI. That triple was his first of the season. Ronan O'Connor was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

As for Aurora Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 18-14 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games.

On Aurora Christian's side, the team relied heavily on Preston Morel, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run. That's the most hits Morel has posted since back in April.

Coming up, Marmion will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Sycamore at 4:30 p.m. As for Aurora Christian, they are taking a road trip to square off against Hinckley-Big Rock at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
