Basketball Game Preview: Bosqueville Bulldogs vs. Rio Vista Eagles

The Bosqueville Bulldogs will take on the Rio Vista Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bosqueville has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Last Friday, Bosqueville ended up a good deal behind Meyer and lost 72-55. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 606th, while the Ravens are ranked 275th).

Meanwhile, Rio Vista was just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 49-48 to Meridian.

Bosqueville will have to contain Dawson Macklin as he made an impact in Rio Vista's last game. He dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. That's the most points Macklin has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Zepeda, who posted five points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Rio Vista smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 30 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Rio Vista dropped their record down to 10-10 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points per game. As for Bosqueville, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-5.

Bosqueville took their victory against Rio Vista when the teams last played back in December of 2017 by a conclusive 74-54. Will Bosqueville repeat their success, or does Rio Vista have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
