Newburgh Free Academy came out on top against Kingston on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Goldbacks had just enough and edged out the Tigers 5-4. The Goldbacks haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

DJ Clifford tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits.

At the plate, Chris Leggett was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was JP Walsh, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Newburgh Free Academy's victory bumped their record up to 13-5-1. As for Kingston, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-15.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Newburgh Free Academy will challenge Chester at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Kingston, they will square off against Wallkill at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
