Volleyball Recap: Encina Comes Up Short

Encina lost against John Adams Academy Rsvl/Lin back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Bulldogs lost 3-0 to the Patriots. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

While Encina was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into John Adams Academy Rsvl/Lin's winning margin in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-17, 25-21.

Sarah Cowley paced Encina's offense, picking up seven kills. Cowley got some help from Nyla Pomtong and her ten assists. Cowley was also solid from the service line: she led the team with seven aces.

Encina's defeat dropped their record down to 7-12. As for John Adams Academy Rsvl/Lin, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Encina is set to challenge their familiar foe Sierra Academy of Expeditionary Learning at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, John Adams Academy Rsvl/Lin will face off against rival Futures at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
