Basketball Game Preview: Westminster Wolves vs. Riverdale Ridge Ravens

The Westminster Wolves will challenge the Riverdale Ridge Ravens at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Thursday, Westminster took their game with ease, bagging a 54-22 victory over Prairie View.

Westminster had a senior duo take command as Naomi Saldana almost dropped a double-double on 35 points and nine steals and Desiree Stoddard dropped a triple-double on ten assists, 11 steals, and ten blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Saldana has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayla Talmich-Martinez, who posted eight points.

Westminster was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Riverdale Ridge). They blew past Prairie View, posting a 96-8 win. The victory was nothing new for the Ravens as they're now sitting on five straight.

Riverdale Ridge is also on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.9 points per game. As for Westminster, their win bumped their record up to 10-8.

Westminster was dealt a bruising 88-23 defeat at the hands of Riverdale Ridge in their previous meeting back in January. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Westminster was down 46-8.
