Softball Game Preview: Galena Grizzlies vs. Bishop Manogue Miners

The Galena Grizzlies will challenge the Bishop Manogue Miners at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Galena has given up an average of 8 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Galena is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Spanish Springs, who was ranked fifth at the time (Galena was ranked 21st). The Grizzlies lost 12-2 to the Cougars on Saturday. The Grizzlies' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Brea Angle was huge no matter where she played even without the win. Meanwhile, Bishop Manogue fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against McQueen on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Lancers by a score of 4-3.

Bishop Manogue's loss dropped their record down to 13-8-1. As for Galena, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-15-1.

Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Galena hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. However, it's not like Bishop Manogue struggles in that department as they've averaged .372. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
