Baseball Game Preview: Yreka Miners vs. Anderson Cubs

For the second straight game, Yreka will face off against Anderson. The Miners will head out on the road to face off against the Cubs at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Yreka will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

Yreka is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Anderson get on the board and left with a 23-0 win on Tuesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Miners with their most commanding win of the season.

Brody Zediker was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Yreka is 3-1 when Zediker allows three or fewer hits, but 4-12 otherwise. Zediker was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Yreka let Laydon Luce and Gabe Gregg run wild. Luce got on base in four of his five plate appearances with five runs, three RBI, and one stolen base, while Gregg went 3-for-5 with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Gregg is becoming a predictor of Yreka's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-13 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Zane Vann, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Yreka always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .591. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

Yreka's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-13. As for Anderson, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.
