Football Recap: St. Paul Takes a Loss

St. Paul managed to slip by Oxford the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Knights were dealt a 34-0 loss at the hands of the Pirates on Saturday.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Jack Grenier and Andy Darko. Grenier rushed for 81 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries while Darko rushed for 61 yards and a pair of scores on only five carries. Darko didn't just play on offense: he also picked up a sack and made three total tackles. Savior Aiguier also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.

St. Paul's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Oxford, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-2.

St. Paul has already played their next contest, a 38-7 loss against North on the 10th. As for Oxford, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 35-20 win against Quabbin Regional on the 10th.
