Football Recap: St. Paul Knights vs. Oxford Pirates

St. Paul fell victim to Oxford and their airtight defense on Saturday. They had to suffer through a 34-0 loss at the hands of the Pirates. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pirates apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2021.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Jack Grenier and Andy Darko. Grenier rushed for 81 yards and two scores on only 11 carries while Darko rushed for 61 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only five carries. Darko also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up a sack and making three total tackles. Another big playmaker for Oxford was Savior Aiguier, who returned a punt for a touchdown.

St. Paul's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Oxford, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Looking ahead, St. Paul will welcome North at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The Knights are facing the Polar Bears at the right time seeing as the Polar Bears are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Oxford, they will face off against Quabbin Regional at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
