The Coahoma County Red Panthers will head out to square off against the Holly Springs Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Coahoma County will be strutting in after a victory while Holly Springs will be coming in after a defeat.

Coahoma County not only won last Friday, but they posted their biggest win since October 25, 2024 (when they won 48-12). They were the clear victors by a 36-12 margin over North Panola. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Red Panthers just coasted through the last quarter.

Coahoma County didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Kendarious Sims, Radarius Crawford, and Torrence Leflore picked up one apiece. Leflore also made five total tackles, which is notable because Coahoma County is 2-1 when he posts at least three total tackles, but 0-4 otherwise. The Red Panthers got some further help from Terry Thomas: he forced two fumbles and made eight total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, Holly Springs was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a blow against East Webster, falling 48-0. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 266th, while the Wolverines are ranked 55th).

Coahoma County moved to 2-5 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Holly Springs, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.
