Basketball Recap: Wayne Comes Up Short

Wayne fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Newark on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 68-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Newark Reds. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Eagles came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 56th, while the Reds are ranked 352nd).

Wayne suffered their first road loss, dropping their record down to 15-2. As for Newark, their record now sits at 8-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wayne will welcome Palmyra-Macedon at 7:00 p.m. on February 14th. As for Newark, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mynderse Academy at 7:00 p.m. on February 14th.
