Softball Recap: Five Straight Home Wins for Ephrata

While Ephrata's win against Cedar Crest wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Mountaineers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 15-14 victory over the Falcons on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Mountaineers in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won five in a row.

The team relied heavily on Emma Zimmerman, who scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaliana Auchey, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her six plate appearances.

Ephrata pushed their record up to 5-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.6 runs over those games. As for Cedar Crest, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Coming up, Ephrata will head out to challenge Elizabethtown at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Cedar Crest, they will host Hempfield at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Black Knights have averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season.
