Basketball Recap: Arlington Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Arlington duked it out withBartlett on Friday. The Arlington Tigers were beaten by the Bartlett Panthers 65-31. The defeat continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now lost six in a row.

Despite the loss, Arlington saw an underclassman step up: freshman Kallie Marsh posted six points and nine boards. Marsh is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenna Miller, who scored nine points.

Bartlett's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kaylin Sheffield led the charge by putting up 13 points. Another player making a difference was Dacarra Ward, who went 6 for 9 on her way to 12 points.

Arlington's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Bartlett, they pushed their record up to 11-9 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Arlington will challenge Cordova at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Arlington is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.6 points per game this season. Bartlett has already played their next contest, a 72-55 loss against Brentwood on the 18th.
