            Basketball Recap: NCSSM: Morganton Dragons vs. Avery County Vikings        
        
		
        
        
            NCSSM: Morganton was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Monday as the team picked up their 35th straight  loss  dating back to last season. They were dealt  a  60-13 defeat at the hands of the Avery County Vikings. While losing is never fun, the Dragons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings  (they are ranked 587th, while the Vikings are ranked 155th).
 Avery County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was   Caroline Hollifield, who  went 5 of 8  on her way to 12  points and three  steals. Hollifield has been hot recently, having  posted three or more  steals the last three times she's  played. The team also got some help courtesy of  Adyson Dellinger, who  almost  dropped  a double-double with 12 points and nine  rebounds.
NCSSM: Morganton's loss dropped their record down to 0-17. As for Avery County, their win was  their third straight on the road, which  pushed their record up to 15-6.
 Both  teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. NCSSM: Morganton won't have much time to rest: their next  game is against Rosman  at 5:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. NCSSM: Morganton is facing Rosman at the right time seeing as Rosman is stuck on  a  three-game losing streak. As for Avery County, they will challenge Mitchell at 6:30  p.m.  on Wednesday. Avery County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.3  points per game  this season.
