Football Game Recap: Bayonne Bees vs. Columbia Cougars

If Columbia wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Bayonne, they should've done a better job of containing Chance Fischer. The Bees simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Cougars 41-3 for which the team can thank Fischer, who rushed for 146 yards and a pair of TDs on only nine carries. His rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 102 rushing yards.

Another player making a difference was Nico Sampson, who threw for 193 yards and three touchdowns while completing 78.6% of his passes. His passing game has become a key predictor of Bayonne's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 0-3 otherwise.

Bayonne's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-3. As for Columbia, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season.

Bayonne will square off against Orange at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bees will be up against the Tornadoes' rather soft defense (which has allowed 42.14 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Columbia, they will host Union City at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
