Softball Game Preview: Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Granada Hills Charter Highlanders

Cleveland hasn't had much luck against Granada Hills Charter recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Cavaliers will challenge the Highlanders at 3:00 p.m.

Cleveland is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 11th straight game on Wednesday. They took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of Taft.

Jessica Van Zyl was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Itzel Robles also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Granada Hills Charter waltzed into their game on Wednesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Chancellors a 15-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Highlanders, who have now won 12 contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Zoe Justman was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Jocelyn Jimenez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.

Granada Hills Charter was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .324 or higher in five consecutive matchups.

Granada Hills Charter pushed their record up to 20-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Cleveland, their loss dropped their record down to 2-15.

Cleveland might still be hurting after the 15-0 defeat they got from Granada Hills Charter when the teams last played back in April. Can the Cavaliers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
