Basketball Recap: Sand Creek Takes a Loss

Sand Creek played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by The Classical Academy Titans and fell 66-18. The Scorpions were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-6.

Sand Creek's loss came despite strong showings from Senia Lee and Kayla Dempsey. Lee posted six points, while Dempsey put up no points. What's more, Lee also posted a 75% field goal percentage, which is the highest she's posted since back in February of 2024.

The Classical Academy found their leader in sophomore Naomi Flowers, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 13 boards. Flowers has become a key player for The Classical Academy: the team is undefeated when she posts at least ten rebounds, but 6-9 otherwise. Estella Leavitt was another key player, going 5-for-7 to rack up 12 points.

Sand Creek has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season. As for The Classical Academy, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sand Creek will challenge Elizabeth at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for The Classical Academy, they will square off against Sierra at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
