Softball Recap: Wewahitchka Gators vs. Altha Wildcats
Wewahitchka was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Altha Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-5 back in February.
Wewahitchka saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jordyn Ashby, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Another was Emma Rustin, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Wewahitchka's loss dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Altha, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 10-5.
Looking ahead, Wewahitchka is taking a road trip to take on Cottondale at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Hornets' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Gators' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Altha, they will welcome Holmes County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
