Baseball Game Preview: Sage Hill Lightning vs. Laguna Beach Breakers

For the second straight game, Sage Hill will face off against Laguna Beach. Sage Hill will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Laguna Beach at 3:30 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Sage Hill has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Laguna Beach will arrive with 11 straight wins.

For Laguna Beach's part, they got a great performance from Branson Wade as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Wade has posted since back in February of 2024.

At the plate, Parker Moore was incredible, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Yencho, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Laguna Beach was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sage Hill only posted a batting average of .240.

Laguna Beach's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Sage Hill, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Sage Hill's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's matchup. Sage Hill has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game.
