Baseball Recap: Monmouth United Picks Up 12th Straight Win at Home

Monmouth United had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the Biggsville West Central Heat. Considering the Red Storm have won seven games by more than eight runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Tanner Rogers looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk).

At the plate, Nolan Jenks was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last 13 matchups. Chance Stewart was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

Monmouth United was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Monmouth United's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Biggsville West Central, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.
