Football Recap: Chatham Central Falls Short of Winston-Salem Preparatory Academy in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Chatham Central can now relate to. They received a blow on Friday as they fell 30-12 to the Winston-Salem Preparatory Academy Phoenix. The Bears' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it ten in a row.

Chatham Central's loss came despite strong showings from Nicholas Glover and Carson Jackson. Glover gained 170 total yards and a touchdown, while Jackson picked up 52 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Winston-Salem Preparatory Academy found their leader in freshman Jamari Wilson, who rushed for 175 yards and three scores while picking up 8.8 yards per carry, and also threw for 130 yards and one TD. Wilson also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making three total tackles and defending one pass. Tim Smith was another key player, picking up 100 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Chatham Central's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Winston-Salem Preparatory Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-8.

Chatham Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Winston-Salem Preparatory Academy, they will head out to take on Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
