Softball Game Preview: Bethlehem Eagles/Banshees vs. Central Hardin Bruins

Bethlehem is 0-5 against Central Hardin since May of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. The Eagles/Banshees will head out on the road to face off against the Bruins at 6:00 p.m. Bethlehem will be strutting in after a victory while Central Hardin will be coming in after a loss.

Bethlehem's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Bardstown as they made off with an 18-0 win. The Eagles/Banshees might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by eight runs or more this season.

Alexis Hume was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Bethlehem got a massive performance out of Gabby Luckett, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave Luckett a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cam Mitchell, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

Bethlehem was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .577. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Central Hardin fell victim to South Warren and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Spartans, falling 20-0. The Bruins haven't had much luck with the Spartans recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

The victory made it two in a row for Bethlehem and bumps their season record up to 13-6. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Central Hardin, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-8.

Bethlehem couldn't quite finish off Central Hardin in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can the Eagles/Banshees avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
