Softball Recap: Debbie Smith CTE Academy Comes Up Short

After flying high against Hug on Tuesday, Debbie Smith CTE Academy came back down to earth. The Mavericks came up short against the Sparks Railroaders on Thursday, falling 11-1. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Railroaders this season, with their most recent defeat being a 17-6 loss last Thursday.

Aubree Mendoza was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

Debbie Smith CTE Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-13 record this season. As for Sparks, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-16.

Coincidentally, Debbie Smith CTE Academy and Sparks will both be playing South Tahoe the next time they take the field. The Mavericks will head out to face the Vikings at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Railroaders will head out to face them at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
