Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mt. Vernon). They blew past the Granite City Warriors, posting a 62-6 win. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Rams' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 228th, while the Warriors are ranked 458th).

Mt. Vernon's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Granite City, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.

Mt. Vernon wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 48-44 defeat against Centralia on the 17th. As for Granite City, they have also already played their next matchup, a 21-13 loss against Doniphan on the 17th.
