Baseball Recap: Dunnellon Triumphs

Dunnellon won against Crystal River last Monday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. Dunnellon beat the Union County Fightin' Tigers by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-1. This was a revenge game for the Tigers: when they faced off against the Fightin' Tigers back in February, they had to take a 3-2 loss.

Brody Roland made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has become a key player for Dunnellon: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-9 otherwise. Roland was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jacob Fontanez, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Donahoe, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Dunnellon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matches.

Dunnellon's record is now 5-10. As for Union County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season.

Dunnellon wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Crystal River on the 19th. As for Union County, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 6-2 win against Trenton on the 20th.
