Soccer Recap: Lafayette Beats Smithfield for Their Fourth Straight Win

Lafayette proved they can win big on Friday (they won by five) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. Their defense stepped up to hand the Smithfield Packers a 1-0 shutout. The win was all the more spectacular given Lafayette's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while Smithfield are ranked 17th).

The victory (which was Lafayette's fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-5-2. As for Smithfield, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 4-1-1 and their overall record down to 11-4-1.
