Vernon Carey, Jalen Green headline USA Basketball U17 World Cup team

American contingent will head to Argentina for opener against China on June 30.

USA Basketball announced Thursday the 12-player roster for the FIBA U17 World Cup, scheduled for June 30-July 8 in Argentina.

It's a loaded squad that includes four MaxPreps All-Americans from the 2017-18 season. Here's a look at the complete roster:

Scottie Barnes, 6-7, F – University (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.)
Vernon Carey Jr., 6-9, F – University (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.)
Jalen Green, 6-6, G – San Joaquin Memorial (Fresno, Calif.)
R.J. Hampton, 6-5, G – Little Elm (Texas)
De'Vion Harmon, 6-1, G – Guyer (Denton, Texas)
Evan Mobley, 6-10, F/C – Rancho Christian (Temecula, Calif.)
Wendell Moore Jr., 6-5, G/F – Cox Mill (Concord, N.C.)
Isaac Okoro, 6-5, G/F – McEachern (Powder Springs, Ga.)
Jeremy Roach, 6-2, G – Paul VI (Fairfax, Va.)
Isaiah Stewart, 6-8, F – La Lumiere (LaPorte, Ind.)
Jalen Suggs, 6-5, G – Minnehaha Academy (Minneapolis, Minn.)
Romeo Weems, 6-6, G/F – New Haven (Mich.)



Carey, Stewart and Moore are all Top 25 prospects in the Class of 2019 according to 247Sports. Green, Suggs, Hampton, Barnes and Mobley are all regarded as Top 10 prospects in the 2020 class.

The United States opens play at the event June 30 against China in Group B. Mali and Serbia are the other group round opponents. Knockout tournament play begins July 6.

USA teams are 30-0 in the event (formerly known as the FIBA U17 World Championship) dating back to 2010.
