Basketball Recap: Queen's Grant Skates Past Piedmont Community Charter with Ease

Queen's Grant had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 41.2 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They breezed by the Piedmont Community Charter Patriots to the tune of 71-26. The Stallions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matches by 24 points or more this season.

Queen's Grant was led to victory by Misa Garris and Za'Miya Bynum. Garris dropped a double-double on 30 points and 15 steals, while Bynum went 16 of 26 en route to 33 points along with eight steals and five boards. Bynum's evening made it 19 games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Casey Smith, who posted eight points in addition to four steals and four blocks.

Queen's Grant pushed their record up to 16-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.0 points over those games. As for Piedmont Community Charter, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Queen's Grant will square off against Carolina International at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Piedmont Community Charter, they will challenge Queen's Grant at 6:00 p.m. on February 14th.
