Soccer Game Preview: Cumberland vs. Tolman

The Cumberland Clippers will square off against the Tolman Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cumberland's last three matchups have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Cumberland is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: Portsmouth, who was ranked 19th at the time (Cumberland was ranked ninth). The Clippers fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 2-1 on Tuesday. The match was a 1-1 toss-up at halftime, but Cumberland couldn't quite close it out.

Their goal came courtesy of Jayden Lawrence, which was the first he's scored this season.

Meanwhile, Tolman fell victim to Moses Brown and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Quakers.

Tolman's loss dropped their record down to 5-10-1. As for Cumberland, their defeat ended a four-match streak of away wins and brought them to 12-5-3.

Cumberland beat Tolman by a goal when the teams last played two weeks ago, winning 1-0. Do the Clippers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
