Hempstead is 7-1 against Liberty since February of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Hempstead Mustangs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Liberty Lightning at 7:30 p.m. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with nine consecutive losses dating back to last season for Hempstead and five for Liberty dating back to last season.

Hempstead is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They came up short against Dubuque Senior on Friday, falling 89-63.

Meanwhile, Liberty was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Monday as they fell 64-59 to Ankeny Centennial.

Hempstead will need focus on slowing down Brady Randall, one of several Liberty players who made an impact when they last played. He shot 4-for-7 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards. Those ten rebounds gave Randall a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddoc Coapstick, who posted 15 points.

Even though they lost, Liberty smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

Hempstead's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Liberty, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 0-4.

Things could have been worse for Hempstead, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 66-47 loss to Liberty when the teams last played back in February.
