Baseball Recap: Clovis West Comes Up Short

Clovis West has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.37 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Justin Garza Guardians by a score of 11-10. Even if the Golden Eagles couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Nolin Santillan made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Alex Pirok, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Clovis West's loss dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Justin Garza, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-13.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clovis West will take on Buchanan at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Golden Eagles 3.4, the Bears 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Justin Garza, they will challenge Sanger West at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Guardians are facing the Hornets at the right time seeing as the Hornets are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
