Stephen Kovacs posted a new career-low in hits on Thursday. He was dialed in as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. Considering he played a big game the last time he faced off against New Paltz back in May of 2024, the result shouldn't come as too huge a shock. Kovacs has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

Looking ahead, Kovacs and Goshen Central will challenge Monticello at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. The Gladiators got just the result they wanted when they last faced the Panthers thanks in part to Kovacs: he fired off six RBI, three runs, and three doubles while going 5-for-5.
