Baseball Recap: Rio Hondo Beats Idea Academy for Their Third Straight Win

Rio Hondo waltzed into their match on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Idea Academy Titans a 10-0 shutout. The Bobcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by eight runs or more this season.

Cesar Perea looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Caleb Sandoval was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Ruben Castellanos, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Rio Hondo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .316 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Rio Hondo's victory bumped their record up to 9-2.

Rio Hondo didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 11-0 win against IDEA ELSA College Prep on the 6th. Idea Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Falfurrias at 7:00 p.m. on March 17th.
