Basketball Recap: Cripple Creek-Victor Comes Up Short

Cripple Creek-Victor was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They were beaten by the Cotopaxi Pirates 65-14. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 63-12 back in December of 2024.

Cripple Creek-Victor used a three-pronged attack on offense: Jackson Trujillo, Davien Estrada, and Devon Reyes posted three points each.

Joel Tezak was his usual excellent self, going 7-for-14 on his way to 17 points in addition to eight boards and seven steals for Cotopaxi. The dominant performance gave Tezak a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Justin Howell, who went 5-for-7 en route to 13 points and four steals.

Cripple Creek-Victor's loss dropped their record down to 4-17. As for Cotopaxi, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season.
