Basketball Recap: Ravenna Takes a Loss

Ravenna was the 45-44 winner over Minden when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Ravenna Bluejays were outmatched by the Minden Whippets and fell 60-24. The Bluejays were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-8.

Loss or not, Ravenna got some senior leadership from Reannon Siegel and Kellie Huryta. Siegel posted six points, while Huryta earned ten points along with five boards and three steals. Huryta has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played.

Mattie Kamery continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Minden, going 9 of 17 on her way to 21 points along with seven steals and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Myla Emery, who put up 15 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Ravenna and nudges their season record down to 3-10. As for Minden, they pushed their record up to 11-1 with the victory, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season.

Ravenna will venture away from home to square off against Central City at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Central City's defense has only allowed 28.2 points per game this season, so Ravenna's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Minden, they will host St. Cecilia at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
