Football Recap: South Lake Starts Season with Victory Against Nature Coast Tech

South Lake had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past the Nature Coast Tech Sharks 27-6 on Friday. With the Eagles ahead 20-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.

A big part of South Lake's victory came down to the chemistry between Tre Kelly and his top target Keydrick Powell. Kelly threw for 153 yards and three TDs while Powell picked up 149 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Those three receiving touchdowns gave Powell a new career-high. Malik Holman handled things on the ground, rushing for 83 yards.

South Lake didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Joseph Robinson led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. Tyson Williams has been hot recently, having also posted six or more total tackles the last four times he's played. Another thorn in Nature Coast Tech's side was Jesse Barker Jr., who picked up two sacks, forced three fumbles, and made eight total tackles (4.0 for loss).

Looking ahead, South Lake will look to takes advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they takes on Tavares at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Nature Coast Tech, they are headed away from home for the first time to challenge Pasco at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
