Baseball Game Preview: Hampton Talbots vs. Hopewell Vikings

The Hampton Talbots will square off against the Hopewell Vikings at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.

Hampton is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Mars just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the Fightin' Planets by a score of 3-2.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Thursday Hopewell sidestepped Laurel Highlands for a 3-1 victory.

Ben McDonald spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Hopewell's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was James Gill, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one RBI.

Hopewell's victory bumped their record up to 3-9. As for Hampton, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.
