Recap: Hernando Leopards vs. Mitchell Mustangs
On Thursday, Hernando came up short against Mitchell and fell 48-39. Hernando has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Hernando's loss came despite strong showings from Ayana Kincade and Aislin Ruppe. Kincade scored 17 points, while Ruppe scored 13 points.
Mitchell's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tahlia Vazquez, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Vazquez has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Priya Jacob, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds.
Hernando's loss dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Mitchell, their victory bumped their record up to 11-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hernando won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Central at 6:30 p.m. on January 19th. Central comes in still looking for their first win of the season. Mitchell won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Wesley Chapel at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. That game will pit two of the most dominant forwards against one another: Dayla Christopher and Jacob.
