Football Recap: Wheeler Extends Winning Streak to Six

Wheeler won the last time they faced Calumet New Tech and Levi Murray did his part to make sure it happened again. The Bearcats secured a 21-16 W over the Warriors on Friday thanks in part to Murray, who rushed for 238 yards and three TDs while picking up 7.4 yards per carry. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 115 rushing yards.

Despite the loss, Calumet New Tech still got an impressive performance from Bryce Brandon, who rushed for 122 yards and one touchdown.

The win keeps Wheeler at an undefeated 6-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 8.2 points on average this season. As for Calumet New Tech, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.

Coming up, Wheeler will take on Whiting at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bearcats are facing the Oilers at the right time seeing as the Oilers are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Calumet New Tech, they will square off against Griffith at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors will need to watch out since the Panthers have now posted at least 31 points in their last three contests.
