Baseball Game Preview: Gobles Tigers vs. Fennville Blackhawks

The Gobles Tigers will head out to take on the Fennville Blackhawks at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

As a matter of fact, Gobles put up the most runs they have all season on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over Bangor. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Tigers as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Fennville hadn't done well against Saugatuck recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Blackhawks came out on top against the Trailblazers by a score of 12-8. Considering the Blackhawks' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

The team relied heavily on Seamus Lynch, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBI. Fennville is 2-1 when Lynch posts two or more runs, but 1-13 otherwise. Mason Sabala also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Fennville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Gobles' win bumped their record up to 2-8. As for Fennville, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 3-14.

Everything went Gobles' way against Fennville when the teams last played back in May of 2023, as Gobles made off with a 12-1 win. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blackhawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
