No. 5 Montrose Christian (Rockville, Md.) rebounded from its first loss of the season by blasting No. 10 Findlay Prep (Henderson, Nev.) 63-37 Saturday at the PrimeTime Shootout in Union, N.J.
Montrose Christian (19-1) was stunned by Linden (N.J.) Friday night at the same event, but responded in impressive fashion by dominating a matchup between two of the Top 10 teams in this week's Xcellent 25 presented by the Army National Guard. Villanova-bound guard Tyrone Johnson led the Mustangs with a game-high 25 points.
For Findlay Prep (24-3), the 26-point final margin represented the most lopsided setback in program history. The Pilots have tasted defeat just six times in four seasons under head coach Michael Peck.
The suburban Las Vegas national power could have its hands full again Sunday with Kasim Chandler and East Side (Newark, N.J.) in a 3 p.m. tip.
