Baseball Game Preview: Hampden Broncos vs. Edward Little Red Eddies

Hampden and Edward Little are an even 4-4 against one another since May of 2015, but likely not for long. The Broncos will take on the Red Eddies at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Hampden's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Edward Little's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Hampden's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They walked away with a 4-0 win over Brewer.

Not much got past Bodie Bishop, who gave up just four hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Brewer off the board. Bishop has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Andrew Cote, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and one run. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Josh Lorenzo, who went 1-for-2 with four RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Edward Little came up short against Cony on Friday and fell 4-1. That's two games in a row now that the Red Eddies have lost by exactly three runs.

Hampden has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Edward Little, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

Hampden came out on top in a nail-biter against Edward Little in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Broncos since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
