Baseball Recap: Tri-Valley Triumphs

Tri-Valley barely beat Deer Creek-Mackinaw the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Vikings' pitcher stepped up to hand the Chiefs a 6-0 shutout on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Chiefs: they've now won four in a row.

Not much got past Cole Klein, who gave up just a hit and racked up 13 Ks to keep Deer Creek-Mackinaw off the board. Klein has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ethan Moore was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Grayson Coughlin was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Tri-Valley's victory bumped their record up to 12-5-1. As for Deer Creek-Mackinaw, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-12.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tri-Valley will challenge Bloomington Central Catholic at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Vikings are facing the Saints at the right time seeing as the Saints are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Deer Creek-Mackinaw, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Roanoke-Benson/Lowpoint-Washburn at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Rockets will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Chiefs surely won't give up without a fight.
