Basketball Recap: Jordan Dumal Key Part of a Team Effort in Pirates Win

Crystal River posted their closest victory since December 4, 2024 on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Citrus Hurricanes 56-54. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 76-51 back in December of 2024.

Crystal River's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jordan Dumal led the charge by dropping a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds. That's the most boards Dumal has posted since back in December of 2023. Ej Jenkins was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.

Crystal River smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive contests.

Crystal River is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.4 points per game. As for Citrus, they dropped their record down to 1-16 with the loss, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.

Crystal River has already played their next game, a 56-50 victory against Belleview on the 23rd. As for Citrus, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 70-40 defeat against Pasco on the 22nd.
