Basketball Recap: Salmon River Starts Season with Defeat at Home + How To Watch

Salmon River unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They lost 66-44 to the Nezperce Nighthawks on Friday. The Savages have struggled against the Nighthawks recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Salmon River still got an impressive performance from Blake Shepherd, who posted 23 points and six rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Nezperce to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kyler Brinkerhoff, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 16 boards. Another player making a difference was Brennen McLeod, who almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine rebounds.

Nezperce has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Salmon River will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Clearwater Valley at 6:00 p.m. on the 18th. As for Nezperce, they have already played their next matchup, a 68-57 win against Genesee on the 6th.
